VILLAGE ADMINISTRATOR

 

The Village of Sherwood is seeking its next Village Administrator. 

The Village of Sherwood offers the best of both worlds – located in a rural area along the northeastern shore of Lake Winnebago, yet conveniently located a short drive to the greater Green Bay metropolitan area and Wisconsin’s Fox Cities.  

The Village is a great location for the outdoor enthusiast with High Cliff State Park and High Cliff Escarpment State Natural Area within 2 miles; Fox River State Trail within 5 miles; High Cliff Golf Course, North Shore Golf Course, and Eagle Links Golf Course within 6 miles; and just 40 miles from the shores of Lake Michigan.  The Village is also a great location for the traveler, located just 15 miles from Appleton International Airport and 30 miles from Austin Straubel International Airport (Green Bay). 

The 3,358 residents of Sherwood live in rural, urban (in the Village center), and exurb areas. Village residents are highly educated (52.7% with a Bachelor’s degree or higher compared to 31.7% in Calumet County), have a high household income ($125,156 compared to $84,151 in Calumet County), are predominantly homeowners (96.3% compared to 81.4% in Calumet County) and have a median age of 44.  The top employment sectors include manufacturing (21.9%); educational services, health care, and social assistance (21.5%); and retail trade (16.7%). 

The Village of Sherwood has contracted services including police (Calumet County), fire protection services (Harrison Fire Department), engineering, utility operations, refuse and recycling, legal counsel, building inspection, accounting, and assessment. In-house services include clerk/treasurer, public works, parks and recreation, and administration. 

The Administrator oversees total governmental funds of approximately $2.3M, a 5-year capital improvement plan, two tax increment districts, and staffing under 10 FTE. The Village has contracted for an interim administrator to guide the transition to the next administrator.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in public administration or related field, Master’s degree preferred. Two or more years’ municipal management experience preferred. The Village is seeking candidates with strong leadership skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach to managing the organization. The Administrator reports to and is hired by a Village Board that consists of 6 trustees and a president.  Anticipated starting salary range is $100,000 - $115,000 depending upon qualifications.
