Force Main Project

For information on the Force Main Project that is set to begin in March 2008, please click onto our NEWS/PROJECTS section.

Currently contractors are working in the Cliffwood Drive area, and the youth soccer season is in progress at Wanick Choute Park. Please take care when traveling or parking in this area. Children are often very interested in construction activity. Please make them aware that it is a work zone and the dangers that may be presented by excavation. Contractors will try to limit traffic interruptions and keep the area safe.

Dog Licenses

By State of Wisconsin statute, Chapter 174, all dogs 5 months and older must be licensed annually. PROOF OF RABIES is required to be licensed. Cost: $3 per dog neutered or spayed: $8 for unaltered dogs. After March 31 a $5 late fee is applied. Dog licenses can be acquired at the Village office or by mail. Licenses will not be mailed without a self-addressed stamped envelope.

Reminder letters will not be sent. A final report will be sent to the county after March 31 for follow-up by the county district attorney. Please call the office if you know longer have the dog.

Yard Waste

To address long-standing concerns about yard waste accumulating at the Village Offices, the Board authorized creation of a yard waste site on Village property at the intersection of Military & Kessler Roads, north of the railroad tracks.

The site will occupy about 1.7 acres of high ground currently used as farm field, while the remaining 4.5 acres will be left untouched due to proximity to Kankapot Creek. Last month the DNR reviewed the site plan and gave the go-ahead for our proposal.

Once established, the site will be open three days per week, including a weekend day. Until the yard waste site is completed, the Village will have yard waste containers in the parking lot of the Village plaza beginning April 18.

Usage of the site and the yard waste containers is restricted to Sherwood residents only. Please abide by the rules - no garbage, stumps, plastic bags, root balls, sod or branches exceeding 4" in diameter.▲

Sherwood 2030 Comprehensive Plan

The Village of Sherwood 2030 Comprehensive Plan is a policy document that will be used by the Village Plan Commission and Village Board as a guide for making decisions regarding land use and development in the community. The plan contains background information and goals, objectives, policies, and recommendations addressing each of the following nine (9) plan elements required by Wisconsin’s “Smart Growth” comprehensive planning legislation:

1. Issues and Opportunities;

2. Housing;

3. Transportation;

4. Utilities & Community Facilities;

5. Agricultural, Natural & Cultural Resources;

6. Economic Development;

7. Intergovernmental Cooperation;

8. Land Use; and

9. Implementation

A “Recommended Plan” of the Village of Sherwood Year 2030 Comprehensive Plan and plan adoption ordinance will be available for review beginning March 10, 2008 at the Village Hall and the Chilton and Menasha Libraries. The plan can also be accessed on Calumet County’s comprehensive planning web site at http://www.co.calumet.wi.us. Click on the SMART GROWTH icon, and go to Village of Sherwood to download the plan or the Preferred Land Use Map.
